Reasons to practice Speed Reading for IELTS

Do you know? How many words will you read on an IELTS reading test? Approximately 900! When it comes to answer about 40 questions in an hour, that too in a foreign language seems impossible. Don’t get tensed, there are various ways you improve both your exam technique and reading skills, it helps not only in finishing the exam but also to perform well.

Why slow reading is a problem?

Sometimes, slow reading is required and important, but at other times it can cause some issues, for ex:

  • Getting yourself more nervous and running out of time
  • Not finishing the text and exam
  • Taking too long to read a text when you are practising reading before the exam
  • Spending your time on parts of the exam that do not give you the correct answers.

 

What causes slow reading?

One or more of the following reasons causes slow reading to people:

  • Read the sentences many times
  • Read the words separately
  • Stuck the word in which they don’t know
  • Immersing to an ideas too deeply or in too much detail
